Joyce Decker

Joyce Irene Decker, 85, of McPherson, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012, at The Cedars, McPherson. She was born at Galva, Kansas on March 1, 1927, the daughter of Fred and Pearl (Tinsley) Dielman. She grew up in Galva and attended Galva public schools. She also attended McPherson College.

She married Raymond C. Decker on August 4, 1949. They lived in Galva for several years before moving to McPherson. Joyce was a homemaker. She loved animals and she and Raymond enjoyed having a dog and one or two cats as companions. She liked to ride with Raymond on his motorcycle.

Raymond died on February 16, 2005. Joyce remained at home until 2010, when failing health forced her to move to the assisted living facility at The Cedars in McPherson, and subsequently to the nursing care facility at The Cedars.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in McPherson, and life member of both the American Legion Post #24 Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Post #2715 Ladies Auxiliary.

Preceding Joyce in death were her parents, husband, Raymond, brothers, Galen, Edgar, Theodore, and Wilfred (Fritz) Dielman, sisters, Margie Zaffino, Lois Grant, and Doris Peterson. Surviving are several brothers-in-law, several sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, on Monday, October 29, 2012, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Marion officiating. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Family will greet friends prior to service time on Monday at the funeral home.
