Derby, KS

Jeffrey Stuart Kline, 68, of Derby, KS and formerly of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, with family by his side at Reeds Cove Health & Rehab in Wichita, KS.

Jeff was born on September 8, 1956, in Marion, KS, the son of Marvin Leroy and Janice Dawn (Decker) Kline. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1974. Jeff was an outstanding performer on the basketball court, gridiron, and baseball field. Jeff played on three state championship teams at McPherson High School (1972, 1973, & 1974) under coach Jay Frazier. As a senior, he was voted MVP in the Kansas 4A State Basketball Championships and named to the All-State team. Jeff was a McPherson High School Wall of Fame inductee. He was also a member of the 1975 McPherson American Legion Kansas State Baseball Champions. Jeff played basketball for two years at Independence Community College, both years playing on nationally ranked teams. Jeff then attended Marymount College for two years, where he played basketball and doubled in baseball, where he was also one of the leading players. After his college playing days, Jeff found himself on the slow pitch softball field where he continued to shine. Jeff had a tremendous love for sports and definitely instilled that love in all of us.

He worked at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita where he was the operations manager. Jeff formerly worked at Culligan Water Conditioning in McPherson.

On February 13, 2005, Jeff was united in marriage to Marsha Louise (North) Harlan in Wichita, KS.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marsha of the home; son, Chad Kline (Courtney) of White Hall, AR; daughter, Ashley Forsman (Chris) of Elkhorn, NE; step-children, Angela Smith of Derby, KS, Kevin Harlan of Derby, KS, and Kenneth Harlan (Michelle) of Georgetown, TX; father, Marvin Kline of Peabody, KS; siblings, Kim Kline of Wichita, KS, Brad Kline of McPherson, KS, Rod Kline (Shawn Berschauer) of Park City, KS, Pamela Huxell (Timm) of Ft.
