Jean O'Dell

Jean O'Dell, 88, of McPherson, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson. She was born on December 23, 1918, in Mitchell, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph Basil and Jessie Mae (Bain) Rife. She graduated from High School at Lyons, Kansas. On August 29, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ivan Luther O'Dell at Arkansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1992. She was the co-owner, operator, and bookkeeper of O'Dell's Laundry, Inc. for over 62 years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Challenger Sunday School Class, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 5, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church, McPherson. Interment will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, KS. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

Survivors include: sons, Danny O'Dell and wife, Jan, of McPherson, KS and David O'Dell and wife, Jaymie, of McPherson, KS; sisters, Joan Feldman of Hutchinson, KS, Josephine Yager of Minneapolis, KS, and Joyce Clark of Kingman, KS; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
