J.C. Cope, 86, of Moundridge and formerly of Salina, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge. He worked as an engineer for Western Ice and in maintenance at Walmart, both of Salina. J.C. was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during WWII.
He was born on July 7, 1927, in Clinton, Oklahoma, the son of Clyde and Oval D. (Richardson) Cope. On August 30, 1945, J.C. was united in marriage to Datha Lee Cook in Electra, Texas.
J.C. was a member of Rolling Rockers Camping Club in Salina, Kansas.
Survivors include: wife, Datha of the home; son, Mike Cope and wife, Yvonne, of Moundridge, KS; daughter, Pamela Sue Hurd and husband, Kent, of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Percy Cope of Woodward, OK; four grandchildren, Tracy Cope and wife, Liane, of Moundridge, KS, Kelly Morey and husband, Chuck, of Port Orchard, WA, Christopher Hurd of McPherson, KS, and Jennifer Hurd of Phoenix, AZ; and four great-grandchildren, Lindsy Walker of McPherson, KS, Codi Walker of Moundridge, KS, and Elise Morey and Libby Morey, both of Port Orchard, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twins, Karen Kay and Sharon Sue Cope, and sister, Wanda Lou Mace.
A memorial service will be at10:00 AM, Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
