Jan Sink

Jan Carpenter Sink, 79, wife, mother, & grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2015, at Galichia Heart Hospital, Wichita. She had worked for State Farm Insurance and Tri-County Special Education Co-op, both in Independence, KS, before retiring from Commerce Bank in Bonner Springs, KS and relocating to McPherson, KS.

Jan was born on May 12, 1935, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Fred D. and Evelyn M. (Sward) Carpenter. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1953.

On January 28, 1956, she was united in marriage to Edwin L. Sink, Jr. in McPherson, KS. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1999.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church, McPherson, TOPS, and a former member of the Strikes & Spares Bowling League of Independence, KS. She volunteered at Save N’ Share, McPherson and McPherson Hospital.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 20, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include: her four children, Jerry L. Sink and wife, Priscilla, of Colbert, WA, Kathryn L. Sink-Bertie and Jerry W. Green of Bartlesville, OK, Kelli A. Sink-Farber and husband, Scott, of Rose Hill, KS, and Jeffrey E. Sink and wife, Laura, of St. Louis, MO; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-mother, Emerald Hapgood Carpenter, brother, Robert (Bob) Carpenter, and aunt, Mildred Miller.
