James A. "Jim" Goodson, 87, of McPherson, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in McPherson. He was a retired oilfield worker, having worked for Hess Oil Company as a roughneck and roustabout.
During World War II, Jim served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations and was honorably discharged at the rank of Private First Class.
On September 5, 1946, Jim was united in marriage to June Esther Cutsinger in McPherson. She preceded him in death on September 5, 1988.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 30, at the Church of the Nazarene. Burial, with full military honors, will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Survivors include: two sons, Kip Goodson and wife, Chris, of McPherson and Todd Goodson and wife, Mary, of McPherson; a daughter, Robin Werth and husband, Scott, of McPherson; a brother, Albert Goodson and wife, Carol, of McPherson; two sisters, Verla May Eastman of Newton, KS and Deloris Johanson and husband, Melvin, of Maize, KS; and six grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, June, and five brothers, Morris, Joe, Marvin, Robert, and George.
