James “Jim” R. Fendt, 82, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at his home in McPherson.  He was a retired United States Postal Carrier and had served in the United States Air Force.

 

Jim was born on November 19, 1940, in Watertown, WI, the son of Raymond and Loretta Fendt.  He graduated from Watertown High School.  On February 23, 1963, Jim was united in marriage to Karen Sue Wells at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson.  This union was blessed with three children, Rhonda, Paula, and Phil.  Jim and Karen were married for 42 years prior to Karen’s passing on November 26, 2005.

 

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC).

 

Survivors include: his three children, Rhonda (Scott) Wedel of Gardner, KS, Paula (Scott) Davis of McPherson, KS, and Phil Fendt of Aurora, NE; grandchildren, Matthew (Crystal) Wedel, Justin (Dani) Wedel, Tyler (Taylor) Davis, Tyson Davis, Emily (Cody) Delk, and Nolan Fendt; great-grandchildren, Ben, Harrison, Ewan, Hugh, Leah, Josie, Bowen, Waylon, and one on the way; and many extended family members and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Shirley Lauderback, Katherine Schlender and an infant brother.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:oo PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, October 23, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rosary following at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Benjamin Shockey officiating.  Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.  Attendees are welcome to wear clothing that Jim would appreciate, such as Green Bay Packers attire.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Meals on Wheels, McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) for the community Thanksgiving/Christmas dinners, or the McPherson County Humane Society in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
