James A. Baker

James “Jim” Arthur Baker, 74, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Avita Memory Care, Wichita. He was an oilfield worker for Haliburton International and also was a truck driver for Jack Kelly Trucking.

Jim was born on September 13, 1946, in Benkelman, NE, the son of Arthur Lafayette and Doris Maxine (Goddard) Baker. On May 25, 1964, Jim was united in marriage to Lois D. Curtis in Liberal, KS.

Jim served in the United States Army during Vietnam.

Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Lois of the home; a daughter, Angela Miller (Tim) of McPherson, KS; four grandchildren, Garett Miller (Bree Alstatt), Marisa Lott (Tanner), Quenten Miller (Brenda), and Teagan Miller (Brittany Bailey); six great-grandchildren, Aiden, Indigo, August, Brogan, Sonja, and Lincon; siblings, Doris Goddard of Liberal, KS, Jackie Jones of Stillwater, OK, Val Jean Wheeler (Jerry) of Apache, OK, and Ronald Baker (Patty) of Yardley, PA; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sandra Horsman and Richard Baker.

The memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Waugh and Tyler Curtis officiating.
