Irene Bittinger

Irene Frantz Bittinger, 97, died Friday, April 11, 2003, at The Cedars Health Care Center.

She was a retired teacher and the widow of Desmond Bittinger, who was President of McPherson College from 1950-1965. Irene also served as hostess for the college and was chosen Kansas Mother of the Year in 1956.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 15, at the Church of the Brethren. There will be no visitation.

Survivors include: two sons, Stanley of Kingsville, TX and Richard of Beaverton, OR; two daughters, Pattie Stern of McPherson and Marianne Francis of Salem, OR; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be given to the Student Scholarship Fund at McPherson College, in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home.
