Helen Swisher

Helen Marie Swisher, 88, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Riverview Estates, Marquette. She was a homemaker and nursing assistant.

She was born August 19, 1924, in Clovis, New Mexico, the daughter of Claude R. and Nannie Jewel (Mitchell) Taylor.

On August 19, 1943, she was united in marriage to Cecil Harold Swisher in Broadview, NM. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2012.

She was a member of the Marquette United Methodist Church and the Smoky Valley Saddle Club.

Survivors include: sons, Marvin Swisher and wife, Cheryl, of Geneseo, KS, Ken Swisher of Lindsborg, KS, Denny Swisher and wife, Gayla, of Marquette, KS, and Doug Swisher and wife, Rose, of Harrah, OK; daughter, Debbie Sutton and husband, Darrell, of McPherson, KS; sister, Jo Davis and husband, Bob, of Georgetown, KY; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Alvin and Finley Taylor, sisters, Lillian Chernook and Alethea Bieri; grandchildren, Ambur Swisher and Jeremy Sutton; and daughter-in-law, Virginia Swisher.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Marquette United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Bever officiating. Inurnment will precede the service at 2:00 PM at the Langley Cemetery, rural Marquette.
