Helen Altendorf

Helen Altendorf, 94, of McPherson and formerly of Cherryvale, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at The Cedars, McPherson. She was born February 24, 1913, at Cherryvale, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Ethel (Gorden) Adams. She graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1931. She had worked at her parent's grocery store in Cherryvale and then at the Kansas Ordinance Plant in Parsons during WWII. She then was a checkout clerk at a Cherryvale grocery supermarket for many years. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, McPherson and the Christian Church in Cherryvale, Kansas.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 15, 2007, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 3:00 PM, Friday, June 15, 2007, at the Fairview Cemetery, Cherryvale, Kansas. There will be no visitation.

Her survivors include: brother, Bill Adams and wife, Shirley, of McPherson, KS; step-daughter, Dolores Mangan of Tribune, KS; and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Paul Cole and Cecil Altendorf, a brother, Gordon Adams, and sisters, Irene Morris and Lucile Allison.
