Harold "Rocky" Wheeler

Hutchinson, KS

Harold “Rocky” W. Wheeler, 64, of Hutchinson, KS and formerly of Marquette, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, surrounded by family at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

 

Rocky was born on May 3, 1959, in Lynwood, CA.  He attended Salina South High School (Salina, KS).  On December 23, 1989, Rocky was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kathy” D. Jader in Lindsborg, KS.   Rocky was blessed with four daughters, Shawna, Kristi, Jennifer, and Tiffany.

 

He retired from American Maplan, McPherson and was a truck driver for MSS Transport in Salina.  Rocky was a devoted family man.  During his retirement years, his top priority was his grandchildren.  They were the light of his life, and he spent most of his  time caring for them and attending to their every need.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Wheeler; daughters, Shawna Nunez of Salina, KS, Kristi Sherrer (Matt) of Hutchinson, KS, Jennifer Theriot (John) of Raywood, TX, and Tiffany Wheeler of Lindsborg, KS; his mother, Donna Sellhorn (Brent) of Lindsborg, KS; siblings, Kimberly Watkins (Randy) of Banning, CA, Travis Wheeler (Teresa) of Alvin, TX, Tawnya Wheeler of  Washington State, April Dickey (Tony) of Salina, KS, Bettina Wheeler of Chanut, KS, Brenda Cox (Randy) of Thayer, KS, Tony Vining (Tammy) of Thayer, KS, Don Vining of Yates Center, KS, Billy Vining (Amy) of Thayer, KS; 11 grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Wheeler; a sister, Kelli Vining; and granddaughter, Miah Sherrer.    

 

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 2, 2024, at Marquette United Methodist Church with Rev. Brenda Hogan officiating. 

 

Memorial donations may be made to the Hutchinson Fire Department in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
