Gordon Olson

Gordon L. Olson, 80, of McPherson and formerly of Newton, KS, Clay Center, KS, and Chetek, WI, passed away on Wed., Feb. 25, 2009, at Harry Hynes Hospice Inpatient Care Unit at Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita, KS. Gordon was born at Rice Lake, WI, on April 11, 1928, the son of Morris and Mabel (Thorgerson) Olson. On May 8, 1953, at Chetek, WI, Gordon was united in marriage to Esther A. Rundblad. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired plumbing and heating contractor, owning and operating Gordie's Plumbing and Heating in Chetek, Wisconsin.

Gordon was a member of the Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Countryside Covenant Church with Rev. Jon Black officiating. Burial will be in the Garfield Center Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

His survivors include: wife, Esther of the home; son, Douglas Olson and wife, Susan, of Newton, KS; daughters, Shirlee Harper and husband, Darrell, of McPherson, KS, Joan Schulz and husband, Ricky, of Middleton, WI, and Lori Crown and husband, Dwight, of McPherson, KS; brother, Arlie Olson and wife, JoAnne, of Chetek, WI; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Peter, three brothers, Raymond, Merlin, and Arden, and a sister, Ruth Rozak.
