Glenn B. Steely, 90, of McPherson, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at McPherson Hospital. He was the former owner & operator of the Mobil Oil Bulk Plant in McPherson and was also an aircraft mechanic and pilot, and a homebuilder.
He was born September 13, 1922, near Lost Springs, KS, the son of John P. and Ella Mae (Gilbert) Steely. He attended West Slope Grade School and graduated from Diamond Valley High School in Burdick in 1940. After retirement, Glenn took various auto restoration courses at McPherson College.
On October 3, 1948, Glenn was united in marriage to Florence M. Herpich in White City, KS.
He was a life member of the BPOE #502 and was a member of the Horseless Carriage Club of Wichita.
Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Florence of the home; and eight nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and four brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 2, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
