Gladys Humfeld-Bell, of Sun City, AZ and formerly of McPherson, was born May 3, 1902, at Junction City, Kansas. She was the daughter of William I. and Ida May (Wilbert) Rissler. She married Herman S. "Curley" Humfeld in 1923, and they lived in Clay Center, KS until 1936. They then moved to McPherson and established Humfeld Floral Co., a business they owned and operated together for many years. Curley preceded her in death in 1961.
She then married R.R. Bell and they lived in Las Vegas, NV for several years. He preceded her in death in 1989. Gladys then re-located to Sun City, AZ with her daughter, Pat. In her spare time, she played music for the Sun City Steppers.
Gladys entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Evergreen Nursing Home in Sun City. She was 102.
Survivors include: a daughter, Pat Armor of Sun City, AZ; a granddaughter, Scotty Neal of Willow, AK; three great-grandchildren, Shawn & Shelly Denny and Chris Fleming; and several nieces & nephews.
A memorial service was held at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Sun City, AZ. A graveside service and inurnment will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 27, at McPherson Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
