Garland E. Hill, Jr.

Garland Elmo Hill, Jr., 85, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Salina, KS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at McPherson Hospital.  He had worked at CertainTeed for 35 years and also for San-Ore Construction and Rathbone Oil Company.

Garland was born on August 17, 1938, in Salina, KS, the son of Garland Elmo Murray Hill, Sr. and Mildred Martha (Van Ness) Hill.  He attended Salina High School.  On September 28, 1957, Garland was united in marriage to LaDonna Marie Schlotz in Salina, KS.  This union was blessed with four children, Garland, III, Sonia, Sally, and Sean.

He attended New Life Foursquare Church and was a member of Christian Motorcycle Association. 

Survivors include: his loving wife of 66 years, LaDonna of the home; children, Garland “Skip” Hill, III of Hutchinson, KS, Sonia Hill of Topeka, KS, Sally Groves (Steve) of Glen Haven, CO, and Sean Hill (Suzette Ruddle-Hill) of McPherson, KS; eight grandchildren, Seth Richard Hill, Matthew Pope, Cody Hill, Dustin Hill, Abigail Bundy, Nathanael Groves, Christine Groves, and Daniel Groves; six great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives and  friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sally Hill.
