Fred E. Simpson, 55, of McPherson, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital, Sulphur, Oklahoma. He was formerly employed at the NCRA Refinery, working in the pump house. He also was a member of the NCRA Fire Brigade. Prior to that, he was a construction worker.
Fred was born on February 5, 1956, in Jamesport, Missouri, the son of William Wesley and Virginia Mae (King) Simpson. He was a McPherson resident since the late 1970s, formerly of Marysville, KS. On December 17, 1983, he was united in marriage to Dawn (Anderson) Corwin in McPherson.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife, Dawn of the home; sons, Travis Corwin (Julie) of Houston, TX, Jeremy Corwin (Tricia) of McPherson, KS, and Dustin Simpson (Melissa) of Streetsboro, OH; daughters, Jennifer Simpson (fiancé Mathew Holguin) of Topeka, KS and Heather Whitton (Jon) of Topeka, KS; sisters, Linda Roy (Kenny) of Aurora, MO and Carleen Martin of Frankfurt, KS; a half-brother, Jeff Simpson of Southaven, MS; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Simpson, sister, Jena Novak, and son, Shane Frederick Simpson.
