Fred J. Pierce, 78, of McPherson, died Tuesday, October 31, 2006, at The Cedars, McPherson. The son of Frederick Charles and Harriett Lee (Wilson) Pierce, Fred was born June 27, 1928, at Marysville, Kansas. He graduated in 1946 from Marysville High School, Marysville, KS and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1950 from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. On May 18, 1956, he was united in marriage to Norma L.Myers at Manhattan, Kansas. Fred was a retired Vice President in charge of refining at the NCRA Refinery in McPherson, working there from 1958 to 1993.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post #24, and past board member of McPherson Industrial Development Company.

Fred served in the U.S. Air Force during the Cold War, discharged in 1956.

His survivors include: his wife, Norma of the home; two sons, Charles Pierce of Hutchinson,KS and Mike Pierce of Wichita, KS; and four grandchildren.

The memorial service will be Thursday, November 2, 2006, at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, McPherson with Rev. H. Dick Reynolds officiating. A private committal service will take place at McPherson Cemetery.
