Eva Marie Burnette, 87, of Salina and formerly of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Sterling House, Salina, KS. She was a homemaker.
She was born on October 11, 1924, in Asherville, KS, the daughter of Clyde Leo and Vola (Shurts) McKee. She graduated in 1942 from Asherville (Kansas) High School. She also graduated from Brown Mackie College.
On April 21, 1946, Eva was united in marriage to Clarence William Burnette in Asherville, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2011.
Eva was a member of Church of Christ and Sweet Adelines, both of Salina, KS.
Survivors include: sons, Bill Burnette of McPherson, KS and Bob Burnette of Gladstone, MO; daughters, Bonnie Jakabosky of McPherson, KS, Leta Nelson (LaRue) of McPherson, KS, and Ann Lockwood (Brad) of McPherson, KS; sister, Evelyn Simmons-McMann of Salina, KS; brother, Vernon McKee (Maurita) of Gainesville, FL; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Kathryn Gates, and son, John Burnette.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Salina Church of Christ with Ministers Wayne DeWindt and Bruce Dimick officiating. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 24, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
