Eunice Nelson

Eunice L. (Wiard) Nelson, 86, of McPherson, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2010, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson. She was a homemaker.

Eunice was born on April 13, 1923, in McPherson County, Kansas, the daughter of Sivert G. and Hulda E. (Hedstrom) Berg. She graduated from McPherson High School in the Class of 1941. On September 20, 1944, she was united in marriage to Franklin E. Wiard in Hutchinson, KS. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1985. On August 14, 1991, she was united in marriage to Walfred H. Nelson, in Lindsborg, KS.

Eunice was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 20, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include: husband, Walfred of the home; son, Kenneth Wiard of Windom, KS; daughters, Karen Esaw of McPherson, KS and Connie Whitton of Houston, TX; step-sons, Leland Nelson and Gary Nelson, both of Lindsborg, KS; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sivert & Hulda Berg, first husband, Franklin E. Wiard, brothers, Rey, Gilbert, Eben, Robert, and James Berg, and sisters, Naomi Tarnstrom, Esther Hedstrom, and Audrey Peterson.
