Esther Olson

Esther A. Olson, 81, of McPherson, and formerly of Newton, KS, Clay Center, KS, and Chetek, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at the Newton Medical Center, Newton, KS. Esther was born on July 7, 1928, in Renovo, PA, the daughter of Joel Cornelius and Alice Margaret Genevieve (Greene) Rundblad. On May 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Gordon L. Olson in Chetek, WI. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2009. She was a registered nurse and office manager for her husband's business, Gordie's Plumbing and Heating in Chetek, Wisconsin.

Esther graduated from the Swedish Covenant Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. She was a member of the Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson.

The funeral service will be at 4:00 PM, Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at the Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson with Rev. Jon Black officiating. A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, Sept. 21, at Garfield Center Cemetery near Clay Center, KS. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, Sept. 18, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include: son, Douglas Olson and wife, Susan, of Newton, KS; daughters, Shirlee Harper and husband, Darrell, of McPherson, KS, Joan Schulz and husband, Ricky, of Middleton, WI, and Lori Crown and husband, Dwight, of McPherson, KS; brothers, Gordon Rundblad and wife, Katie, of Austin, TX and Charles Rundblad and wife, Arlis, of Eau Claire, WI; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, Peter, and a brother, David Rundblad.
