Elsie Platner

Elsie Mae Platner, 67, of McPherson, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at The Cedars, McPherson.

Elsie was born on June 26, 1941, in Ellsworth County, the daughter of Leslie D. and Donnia Mae (Rush) Johnson. She attended the Langley Elementary School and graduated from Marquette High School in 1960. On February 14, 1968, she was united in marriage to Marvin Platner in Marquette, Kansas. She retired from the McPherson County Sheriff Department where she had worked as the head cook. In her earlier years, she worked at the banks in Marquette and Lindsborg.

Elsie was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fidelis Sunday School Class, and the Marquette American Legion Auxiliary.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 30, 2009, at the First Baptist Church, McPherson. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

Survivors include: daughter, LaDonnia A. Platner of McPherson; brothers, L. Dean Johnson and wife, Lois, of Marquette, Verle I. Johnson and wife, Rachel, of McPherson; and John R. Johnson and wife, Ruby, of McPherson; and granddaughter, Kaley Mae Platner of McPherson. She was preceded in death by her son, Lantz A. Platner.
