Elizabeth "Betty" Peters

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Peters, 90, of Inman, Kansas passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was a former teacher, having taught in one room rural schools in McPherson and Harvey Counties.

Betty was born December 1, 1920, in Inman, KS, the daughter of Jacob H. and Elizabeth (Epp) Willems. She graduated from Inman High School and attended McPherson College. On May 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Bennie Carl Peters at the Zoar Mennonite Church, Inman.

She was a member of the Groveland Christian Church; a Home Demonstration Unit (HDU) in Kiowa county; volunteered for the American Cancer Society, Senior Center, and Hospital Auxiliary, all of Greensburg, KS; and was a member of the state and national organizations of the Friends of Gladys Taber (author).

The memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 25, 2011, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

Survivors include: her husband of 60 years, Bennie of the home; brother, Robert Willems of Inman, KS; sisters-in-law, Ruthe Willems of McPherson, KS, Elnora Peters of Newton, KS; and Mildred Bauman of Oregon; and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, James and Alvin Willems.
