Eleanor Elaine Dossett, 78, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, KS. In her earlier years, Eleanor worked for Farmers Alliance Insurance in the underwriting department. When her children were young, she stayed at home with them until they reached school age. She then worked as the early morning cook for Memorial Hospital for approximately 12 years and later as a cook at The Cedars for 14 years.
Eleanor was born on August 6, 1940, in Wayne, KS, the daughter of Wendell Lloyd and Flora Myrtle (West) Newman. She graduated from Agenda Rural High School (Agenda, KS) in 1958. She later graduated from Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, KS. On March 25, 1961, Eleanor was united in marriage to Anson William Dossett at the Church of God in McPherson.
She was currently a member of First United Methodist Church, McPherson and formerly a member of the Methodist Church in Wayne, KS and First Church of God in McPherson.
Survivors include: her loving husband of 58 years, Anson Dossett of McPherson, KS; two sons, Larry (Pauline) Dossett of Newton, KS and Keith Dossett of McPherson, KS; two daughters, Darla (Jeff) Jenkins of Las Cruces, NM and Susan Dossett of Galva, KS; brother, Ray (JoAnn) Newman of Concordia, KS; four grandchildren, Nathan Jenkins, Stephen (Madison) Jenkins, Tim Jenkins, and Sarah Jenkins; and many other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Wendell and Myrtle Newman; infant brother, Lloyd Newman; brother, Jerry Newman; and a sister, Dorothy Brockmeier.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 27, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Lacey Wheeler officiating. Inurnment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery (Wayne, KS) at a later date.
