Edgar W. Etzold, 92, of McPherson, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, at McPherson Hospital. He was the former owner and operator of City Cycle, a bicycle shop in McPherson. He also worked from K.P. & L. , Swick-Guth, and Wal-Mart. He had lived in McPherson since 1957, formerly of Sylvan Grove, Kansas.
Edgar was born on May 28, 1919, in Farrar, Missouri, the son of Martin G. and Berthe (Styeve) Etzold. He graduated from high school in Sylvan Grove, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II, in the Pacific Theater of Operations. On May 29, 1957, he was united in marriage to Margaret A. Lindquist in McPherson.
Edgar was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, American Legion Post #24, and V.F.W. Post #2715.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Leaf officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in McPherson Cemetery. There will be no visitation but the casket will be open at the church prior to the service on Wednesday.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret of the home, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Alfred, Erich, Erwin, Herman, and Eldor, and a sister, Agnes Estell.
