E. “Lee” Fry, 80, of Marquette, KS and formerly of McPherson, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Pine Village in Moundridge. He was a former music teacher, had worked for the Boy Scouts of America in Denver, Colorado, and also was a sales associate at Payless Cashways in Salina.
He was born August 31, 1937, in McPherson, Kansas, the son of Eldred Earl and Thora Delia (McKee) Fry. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1956. He graduated from Bethany College (Lindsborg) in 1959 with a degree in music. While at Bethany, he played the tuba in the “Blue Dozen” pep band. Lee was a member of Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette.
Lee was first married to Sonia Swenson. He later married Nancy Hulse on November 1, 1981, in Salina, KS. She preceded him in death on November 19, 1997. Lee was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard “Dick” Fry.
Survivors include: a sister-in-law, Donna Fry-Reimer (John) of Inman, KS; two nephews and a niece, Presten Fry, Dawn Fry-Beye, and Andrew Fry; and special friends, Scott and Linda Johnson of Marquette, KS.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette with Rev. Katherine Kolodziejczyk officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
