Dortha L. Hinman

Dortha L. (Stockham) Ek Hinman, 93, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at The Cedars, McPherson. She was a homemaker.

She was born on July 22, 1920, in Conway, KS, the daughter of Hugh and Ida Lucretia “Louie” (Brumley) Stockham. She attended Conway schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 1938.

She was united in marriage to Donald H. Ek in 1940. She later married Lawrence E. Hinman in 1963. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1982.

Survivors include: son, Gregory Ek and wife, Letra, of Wichita, KS; grandson, Jeff Ek and wife, Claudia, of Ooltewah, TN; great-grandchildren, Brendan Ek, Bianca Ek, and Bélen Ek; and nieces, Connie Thacker of Park City, KS, Patti Lasswell and husband, Wray, of Austin, TX.

Dortha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Marvin Stockham.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 20, 2014, at the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM, Monday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
