Doris M. Withrow, 88, of Fort Scott and formerly of McPherson, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at the Medicalodge in Fort Scott. She was a McPherson resident from 1962 to 1981 and worked as a cook at Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 12, 1919, in Forgan, Oklahoma, the daughter of George W. and Edna B. (Montgomery) Crosby. On March 10, 1934, she was united in marriage to Charley N. Withrow, Sr. at Forgan, OK. He preceded her in death on January 22, 1999.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 12, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors include: a son, John Withrow and wife, Barbara, of Hutchinson, KS; two daughters, Joycelyn "Jo" Stogsdill of Fort Scott, KS and Sally Caffey and husband, Jim, of Fort Scott, KS; a brother, Calvin Crosby of Liberal, KS; two sisters, Anna Brown of Ponca City, OK and Claudette Caffey of Liberal, KS; 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Charley Withrow, Jr., a grandson, Michael Quesada, and two brothers, George Crosby, Jr. and Isom "Buster" Crosby.
