Doris Mae Anderson, 88, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, surrounded by her family at Angel Arms, McPherson.
Doris was born on May 9, 1936, in Hillsboro, KS, the daughter of Henry L. and Martha Mae (Schierling) Nikkel. On March 21, 1955, Doris was united in marriage to Donald Dean Anderson, Sr. in Clayton, NM. This union was blessed with two children, Debra and Donald, Jr. Doris and Don were married for 58 years prior to Don’s passing on October 10, 2013.
She was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #2715 Auxiliary. Doris bowled with the Girly Birds bowling league and for many years, was secretary for the league. She was inducted into the McPherson Bowling Hall of Fame. Most of all and most importantly to Doris was her family. She loved her family and devoted her life to them.
Survivors include her two children, Debra “Debbie” Bammer and Donald “Donnie” Anderson, Jr. and wife, Karen, all of McPherson, KS; sisters, Donna Graham of McPherson, KS and Gloria Birmingham and husband, Bo, of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Schropp, Jennifer (Justin) Dietzel, Crystal (Chris) Walline, Christopher Anderson, Lauren (Mark) Theile, Jess (Kati) Dees, and RaeAnn (Shane) Koehn; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Nikkel; mother, Martha Scheikofsky; husband, Don Anderson; brother, Robert Nikkel; and son-in-law, Dennis Bammer.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 4, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Anderson (Doris’ nephew) officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
