Donald D. Pottroff, 79, of Yuma, Arizona, passed away on December 3, 2007. He was a long time resident of McPherson, Salina, and Kanopolis Reservoir. He had been a resident of Yuma, AZ for the past three years.
He was born April 9, 1928, in Waverly, KS. Don served in the Navy in 1945 and 1946 in Alaska. He was a master electrician who owned a heating/air conditioning and electrical business in McPherson for many years and later was a heating/air conditioning salesman in Salina.
He was a life member of the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and Loyal Order of the Moose. He built lifelong friendships and made new friends daily. He loved cooking, photography, carpentry, fishing, and was always learning new things. His booming voice, upbeat attitude, and boisterous personality will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice; a son, Jerry and wife, Cindy, of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Chris and wife, Katie, of Chicago, IL, and Jenny Bondy and husband, Kevin, of St. Charles, MO; a great-grandson, Thomas Donald Pottroff of Chicago, IL; a sister, Juanita Sparks and husband, H.L., of Duncan, OK.
Don was preceded in death by his son, Randy, in 1999.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 14, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Reception for family and friends will he held at Perkins Restaurant immediately following the service. Private inurnment will be in McPherson Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
