Dolly Woodard

Dolly B. Woodard, 84, of McPherson, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at McPherson Hospital. She worked for the McPherson Senior Center as a dispatch receptionist for 22 years. She was also a former telephone operator for Southwestern Bell.

Dolly was born on January 9, 1927, in Goulds, Florida, the daughter of Barney Grey and Esther S. (Beckstrom) Barnette. In 1944, she graduated from high school in Homestead, Florida.

Dolly was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson County’s Democratic Women’s Club, and served on the Executive Board for Churches United in Ministry.

Survivors include: a daughter, Kim Edwards (Thomas) of McPherson, KS; son, Barney Woodard (Brenda) of McPherson, KS; and grandson, Morgan Peterson of McPherson, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, LaMonte Talbott and LaVerne Talbott, and a sister, Lucille Miller.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Marion officiating. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation is from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
