Dennis Westphal of Galva, Kansas passed away Thursday evening, December 10, 2020. He was born in 1946 to parents Cloyd and Betty Westphal. Dennis received a bachelor’s degree from McPherson College and worked for CertainTeed as a design engineer from 1969 until his retirement in 2006.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Janice, to who he married in 1966. Other survivors include sons, Brian and Eric, four granddaughters, Jamie, Kelly, Cameron and Sydney, one grandson, Conor, two sisters, Linda and Alice and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, Russell.
Dennis had a passion for wood working and spent many hours in his workshop where he created a variety of items including custom designed cutting boards, toy cars and three-dimensional hearts and crosses. He loved the challenge of using CAD software to create intricate designs and then transform those designs into beautiful wooden art.
Friends may call from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Stockham Family Funeral Home in McPherson. Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. A private ceremony will will take place at Stockham Family Funeral Home on Friday, December 18, 2020, with Pastor Jon Black officiating.
