Dalbert "Cork" Hoppes

Dalbert N. "Cork" Hoppes, 80, of Galva, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at his home in Galva. He was retired from NCRA Refinery, where he worked as an R& F Operator and Heavy Equipment Operator.

Cork was born on February 25, 1932, in Longton, KS, the son of Ivan T. and Agnes B. (McConnell) Hoppes. He graduated from Galva High School in 1950. On April 22, 1951, he was united in marriage to Yvonne V. Ash in Galva, KS.

He was a member of the McPherson Masonic Lodge #172 and was Past Master of the Galva Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include: his wife, Yvonne of the home; sons, Mike Hoppes and wife, Jolene, of Galva, KS and Mark Hoppes and wife, Susan, of Galva, KS; daughter, Tammy Ratzlaff and husband, David, of Galva, KS; brother, Bob Hoppes and wife, Lois, of Sterling, KS; sisters, Norma Donovan of San Jose, CA and Carol Brooks of Wichita, KS; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Gary Flinn.

A private graveside service will take place on Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Empire Cemetery, Galva, with Rev. Phil Radatz officiating.

A reception and celebration of life will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Friday, January 11, at the Galva Community Building, 208 South Main, Galva, KS.
