D. Townsend

D. Wyvonne Townsend, 71, died Saturday, February 22, 2003, at her home in McPherson. She was a homemaker and had been a McPherson resident since 1997, moving from Spring Church, PA.

She was born on August 2, 1931, in the South Bend Township of Armstrong County, PA, the daughter of Aden D. and Rena L. (Scott) Rupert. She attended the local schools and graduated from Elderton High School in 1950.

On August 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to Torrence E. Townsend at Spring Church, PA. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1988.

Mrs. Townsend was a member of the Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. She was also a writer of poetry, with several of her poems in publication.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2003, at the Fairview Cemetery, Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong, County, PA. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Thursday at the Clark Chapel of Bauer Funeral Home in Elderton, PA.

Survivors include: two daughters, Tammy Page of McPherson and Debra Gupta of Smithville, MO; a step-daughter, Terry Roofner of Vandergrift, PA; a brother, Wendell E. Rupert of Spring Church, PA; four sisters, Geraldine Shutt of Oklahoma Boro, PA, Goldyn Rearick of Elderton, PA, Vida Yount of Girty, PA, and Ruth Wyble of Canfield, OH; two grandsons, Billy Page of McPherson and Franklin Roofner, Jr. of Vandergrift, PA; four granddaughters, Melissa Page of McPherson, Autumn Mala Gupta of Smithville, MO, Laletha Gupta of Smithville, MO, and Christina Roofner of Pittsburgh, PA; and one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Roofner.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Orald Rupert and F. Vernon Rupert, and two sisters, Helen Jean Rupert and Esther Kunkle.
