Claudine M. Ferrell

Claudine M. Ferrell, 83, of McPherson, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, at The Cedars in McPherson. She was a retired teacher, having taught in the elementary schools in U.S.D. 418 and also at Central College, where she taught physical education.

She was born May 9, 1929, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Claude Harvey and Juliet C. (Green) Ludwick. Claudine was a graduate of Central Academy and Central College, both of McPherson, Kansas.

On July 16, 1949, she married John William Ferrell in Wichita, KS. Claudine continued her education later on at Seattle Pacific College, earning her Bachelor's Degree in 1954. Claudine and John moved to McPherson in 1956.

Survivors include: her husband, John of the home; a son, David and wife, Linda, of McPherson; a daughter, Rebecca Nickel and husband, David, of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Amy Boele and husband, Jeff, of Boulder, CO, Matt Ferrell and wife, Jen, of Colorado Springs, CO, Paul Ferrell of Fayetteville, AR, Sarah Ouren and husband, Cole, of Colorado Springs, CO, Austin Nickel of Denver, CO, and Emma Nickel of Indianapolis, IN; one great-grandchild, James Peter Boele; sisters, Mary Lou Beamis of Phoenix, AZ and Jo Alice Donnell and husband, Don, of Porter, OK; brother, Harvey Ludwick and wife, Joan, of Ottawa, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 26, at the McPherson Free Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Griffith and Rev. Deborah Somerville will officiate the service. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, Jan. 25 at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
