Carolyn Olson

Carolyn A. Olson, 87, of McPherson, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at The Cedars in McPherson. She was a homemaker, jewelry store clerk, and a laundress at Shiloh Manor Nursing Home in Canton.

She was born April 10, 1924, in Eureka, the daughter of Grover C. and Myrtle (Faylor) Allan. She was one of ten children born to the Allan family, and attended the Eureka schools through the 10th grade.

Carolyn lived many years in the Canton community and was a member of Canton United Methodist Church.

On September 8, 1951, she married Charles Robert Alvord at Nevada, MO. This marriage was blessed with five children. Charles passed away on December 23, 1973. Carolyn later married Louis W. Olson on June 24, 1980, at Greenwood, CO. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1983.

Survivors include: a son, Charles R. Alvord, Jr. (Nancy) of McPherson; four daughters, Sandy Harget of York Haven, PA, Carol J. Alvord of McPherson, Vicki L. Holm-Arce (Johnny) of Moundridge, KS, and Martha Sue Alvord of McPherson; eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death three brothers and six sisters.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 14, 2011, at The Cedars Wellness Center in McPherson. Burial will be in the Canton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
