Carol A. McGuire

Carol Ann (Holter) McGuire was born February 15, 1940, and passed away on November 19, 2024, reaching the age of 84. 

She was born in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Arthur Holter and Bernita (Nichols) Holter. She was an only child. Carol went to St. John Catholic School in El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1958. She met her future husband, Gerald E. “Jerry” McGuire, in their sophomore year of high school, and they married on April 23, 1959, in El Dorado. They were happily married for 57 years until Jerry’s passing on December 3, 2016. 

They were the parents of Jeff and Julie. She took great pride in being a homemaker and took wonderful care of her family. Her greatest joy began when she became a Grandma. 

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald (Jerry) McGuire; and grandson, Matthew Halsey; and sister-in-law, Patricia Gardner. 

She is survived by both of her children, Jeff McGuire of La Junta, CO and Julie Zeller (Ed) of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Johansen (Ami), Dusty McGuire (Bren), Connor McGuire (Liz), Zeke Zeller (Jana), Jayce Zeller, Tanni Zeller (Riley), 3 bonus granddaughters, Tiffani Rankin, Cassandra Zeller, and Jocelyn Zeller; sister-in-law, Mary Kay Griggs; so many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She will be missed dearly and was loved beyond measure.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson. Burial will follow at Bean Cemetery, Little River.
