Carl L. Johnson, 84, of McPherson, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Memorial Hospital. He was retired from the NCRA Refinery in 1984 after 26 years of service, working there as an Insulator Leaderman. He was born November 1, 1922, at Gypsum, Kansas, the son of Charley "Chuck" and Louise (Writer) Walline Johnson. He graduated from Galva High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. On September 12, 1949, he was united in marriage to Delta F. Moore at Newton, Kansas. Carl has been a resident of McPherson since 1950, formerly of Newton, Kansas.
Carl was a member of the First Christian Church, the V.F.W. Post #2715, and volunteered at the McPherson County Food Bank.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 12, at the First Christian Church with Rev. John Gran officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The family will be present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
Survivors include: his wife, Delta of the home; a son, Sheldon Johnson of Oak Ridge, TN; a daughter; Venita Roush of Iola, KS; two sisters, Ellinore Morrow of McPherson and Gloria Thompson of McPherson; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
