Bon Walker

Bon J. Walker, 78, of McPherson, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, at The Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson. He was a retired painting contractor and owned and operated Walker Painting, retiring in 2003. He also was a veteran of the Kansas Army National Guard, serving for nine years.

Bon was born January 26, 1934, in Augusta, Kansas, the son of Ellis E. and Lilly M. (Lakey) Walker. He attended the local Augusta schools and graduated from Augusta High School.

On Nov. 20, 1953, he married Billie J. Davis in Augusta, KS. He later married Judy K. (Hayes) Welch on Nov. 21, 1988, in McPherson, KS.

Bon was a member of Countryside Covenant Church, the Bullpup Booster Club, and B.P.O.E. #502.

Survivors include: his wife, Judy of the home; sons, Randy Walker (Stephanie) of McPherson, KS and Rick Walker (Wendy) of McPherson, KS; a daughter, Renae Moyer (John) of McPherson, KS; step-son, David Welch (Anita) of Windom, KS; step-daughter, Sonia Luttig of McPherson, KS; a sister, Inez Walker of Augusta, KS; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Flood, Lindsey Krehbiel, Abby Jones, Annie Walker, Abe Walker, Justin Walker, and Jordan Walker; two step-grandchildren, Monica Muñoz and LaToya Jones; four great-grandchildren, Stella &Lucy Jones, Alius Logue, and Xia Rockefeller; five step-great-grandchildren, Mercede, Madden, & MaKynna Muñoz, and Kynzlie & Madison Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lonnie, Roscoe, and Lester Walker, and sister, Mary Hall.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Countryside Covenant Church with Rev. Jon Black and Rev. Harold Nelson officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
