Billy Spann

Billy G. Spann, 88, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2012, at The Cedars in McPherson. Billy was a retired insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company. He also had been a sales associate at Morris & Son Clothiers.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Coast Guard, serving during World War II.

Billy was born on September 5, 1923, in Dalhart, TX, the son of Emory Hershel and Sammie (Coleman) Spann. He graduated from McPherson High School. On August 10, 1947, Billy was united in marriage to Della Mae Becker in McPherson.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #24.

Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Della of the home; son, Randy Spann and wife, Karen Ann Garrigan, of Piermont, NH; three daughters, Karla Snyder of Lemoore, CA, Kristi Spann of The Colony, TX, and Karen Schulz and husband, Mitchell, of Canton, KS; twin-sister, Maxine Easter of El Paso, TX, sister, LaNell Hopkins of Chandler, AZ; niece, Billie Van Winton of Amarillo, TX; eight grandchildren, Whitney Snyder, Griffin Snyder, Taylor Snyder, Chlöe Snyder, Holly Losiewicz, Andrew Butts, Jamie L. Papatheodoulou, and Dylan C. Schulz; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Butts and Layne Losiewicz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters, and granddaughter, Sara Spann.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Les Cantrell officiating. Burial will precede the service at 9:30 AM, Saturday, at the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
