Bill Dean Williams, 76, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Downs, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center (Overland Park, KS). He worked as a welder at Kent Manufacturing in Tipton, KS prior to farming.
Bill was born on December 3, 1945, in Beloit, KS, the son of Dean Harrison and Ida Ann (Leonhart) Williams. He graduated from Downs High School in 1962. On October 15, 1967, Bill was united in marriage to Carol L. VanWey in Smith Center, KS. Three children were born to this union, Candee, Dana, and Kyle.
In Bill’s younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid KC Chiefs, KC Royals, and KU Jayhawks fan. Bill’s personality was very easy going, and he thoroughly enjoyed giving everyone a hard time.
He is survived by: three children, Candee Nightingale (Larry), Dana Dossett (Monte), and Kyle Williams (Jennifer), all of McPherson, KS; 12 grandchildren, Nicole, Kelsey, Mayce, Rachel, Hannah, Noah, Alexandra, Tate, Hope, Clarea, Surie, and Calypso; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Deanna White of McPherson, KS; former wife, Carol Madron of McPherson, KS; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held in Downs Cemetery (Downs, KS) at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to help offset funeral expenses and can be payable to Dana Dossett in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
