Betty Jean James

Betty Jean James, 77, of Inman and formerly of McPherson, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was a homemaker and also worked for Sterling Drug.

Betty was born on April 2, 1937, in Mitchell County, KS, the daughter of Marion and Ethel (Sherbundy) Wood. She graduated from Beloit High School. On August 12, 1956, Betty was united in marriage to Richard Dean James in Osborne, KS. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2004.

Survivors include: children, Richard James of Salina, KS, Sheryl Pelnar (Gerald) of McPherson, KS and Mike James (Debbie) of Inman, KS; sisters, Lois Roach of Newton, KS and Joanne Bowles (Pete) of Florence, Alabama; brother, Marion Wood (Joanne) of McPherson, KS; former daughter-in-law, Suzanne James of Salina, KS; six grandchildren, Brian Merryfield, Dustin Merryfield, Cole Merryfield, Jessica Seidel, Richard W. James, and Joshua Dean James: and two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, David Lee James.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, October 27, 2014, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
