Betty Ann Buhrman, 83, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, surrounded by her family at Brookdale in Salina, KS. She had been a hair stylist/licensed cosmetologist for over 50 years and owned and operated Betty’s Beauty Salon in Wisner, NE and Magic Mirror in McPherson, KS.

She was born December 22, 1936, in Beemer, NE, the daughter of Orville W. and LaVern H. (Engelhardt) Young. She graduated from Beemer High School in 1954 and also from the school of cosmetology in Norfolk, NE that same year. In 1955, she married Clarence R. Buhrman in Beemer, NE.

Betty was a member of the First Christian Church, McPherson Hospital Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, and Progressive Club. She enjoyed China painting, flower gardening, traveling, and playing the card game, Skip-Bo.

Survivors include: daughters, Kim Koehn (Danny) of McPherson, KS, Sheri Kaufman (Steve) of McPherson, KS, and Teri Haugen (Jeff) of Castle Rock, CO; six grandchildren, Justin Koehn (Melanie), Tyson Koehn (Sarah Undem), Anna Koehn (Sean Sandell), Travis Kaufman (Megan), Tyler Kaufman (Jennifer), and Taylor Haugen; four great-grandchildren, Gage Koehn, Madalynn Koehn, Soren Kaufman, and Siv Kaufman; an uncle, Jack Gardes (Erlene) of Bancroft, NE; favorite cousins, Pam Holtz of West Point, NE and Keri Wendt of Council Bluffs, IA; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Orville and Janet Young and LaVern Rabe; former husband, Clarence Buhrman; brothers, Robert Henry Young and Orville Young, Jr.; sisters, Donna Carothers and Kathleen Fenske; and her favorite cat, Daisy, and dog, Scarlett.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 9, at the First Christian Church. Inurnment will be in the McPherson Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to the First Christian Church or McPherson County Humane Society in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
