Betty Bechtold

Betty E. Bechtold, 78, of Galva and formerly of Gaylord, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006. She was the daughter of Clarence and Catherine (Barry) Hubbs. She graduated from Smith Center High School with the class of 1946.

On November 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to Melvin "Shorty" M. Bechtold at Smith Center, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1997. She worked at Conrad Irrigation, was the secretary at Gaylord Grade School, and she, along with her husband, owned and operated B's Food Market in Gaylord, Kansas.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 3:00 PM at the Gaylord Cemetery, Gaylord, Kansas. There will be no visitation.

Survivors include: her daughter, Carlene Dickson and husband, Kent, of Galva, KS; a brother, Stanley Hubbs of Wichita, KS; her sister, Kathleen Knoll of Haysville, KS; five grandchildren, Chad and Shane Schamp, Michelle Williams, Bonnie Bruntz, & Scott Dickson; and one great-grandson, Ian Bruntz.
