Bertil Ostlind

Bertil H. "Bert" Ostlind, 93, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2012, at the McPherson Care Center. He was a retired farmer and stockman. He also was an aerial pipeline inspector. He was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, flying over 125 combat missions.

Bert was born on August 13, 1919, at his home in McPherson County, the son of Frank and Augusta (Alhstrom) Ostlind. He attended McPherson High School.

On July 10, 1945, he was united in marriage to Patricia J. "Pat" Baugh in Wichita, KS. She preceded him in death on November 16, 2006.

He was a member of the New Gottland Covenant Church, B.P.O.E. #502 of McPherson, and Charter member of the McPherson Flying Club.

Survivors include: son, Kelly Ostlind; sister, Asta Chase of Lindsborg, KS; three grandchildren, Christopher Fitzgerald, Melissa Fitzgerald, and Albert Ostlind; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pat, daughter, Katherine Lu "Kay" Ostlind, and sister, Svea Olson.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 7, 2012, at the New Gottland Covenant Church with Rev. Richard Skar officiating. There will be no visitation. The casket will be open prior to the service on Friday. Burial with Military Honors will be at McPherson Cemetery.
