Berniece Bland

Berniece Bland, 76, of McPherson, died Monday, February 19, 2007, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, KS. She was born June 22, 1930, at Quinter, Kansas, the daughter of Harlan E. and E. Lorraine (Pierce) Tustin. On February 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Donald E. Bland at Oakley, Kansas. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family electrical contracting business. She was a school teacher in her younger years. She had been a McPherson resident since 1995, formerly of Lakewood, Colorado and Winona, Kansas.

Berniece graduated from Oakley (Kansas) High School in 1947 and graduated from Colorado Women's College with a teaching degree in 1950.

She was a member of the New Hope Evangelical Church and Christian Women's Club for 27 years.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 23, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, McPherson with Rev. Jim Keil and Rev. Jim Means officiating. There will be no visitation. The casket will be open Friday morning at the church prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in WaKeeney, Kansas at a later date.

Her survivors include: her husband, Donald E. Bland of the home; two sons, Don Bland, Jr. of McPherson, KS and Rob Bland of Buffalo Creek, CO; a daughter, Jody Fitzmorris of Littleton, CO; a brother, Richard Tustin of Gove, KS; a sister, Carolyn Smith of Wichita, KS; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the New Hope Evangelical Church or Countryside Covenant Church in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home.
