Bernard Schafer,

Bernard G. Schafer, Jr., 88, of McPherson, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Pleasantview Home in Inman. He was a farmer and former truck driver for General Mills and Associated Grocers.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 24, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. There will be no visitation, however the casket will be open prior to the service Tuesday.

Survivors include: a daughter, Joyce Hart and husband, Darrel, of Wichita, KS; two sons, Howard Schafer of McPherson and Clyde Schafer and wife, Kathy, of Batavia, IL; a sister, Geneva Turnquist of Lindsborg, KS; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline, and a sister, Bernadiene.
