Bennie A. Clark

Bennie “Ben” Andrew Clark, 93, of McPherson and formerly of San Diego, CA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Sterling House, McPherson. He was a retired carpenter and building contractor.

He was born on December 5, 1920, in Portland, Oregon, the son of LeRoy Fredman and Alice (Fourtner) Clark. On July 29, 1944, he was united in marriage to Dollie B. Woods in Santa Ana, CA. They were married for 67 years until her passing on November 19, 2011.

He was a member of McPherson Church of the Brethren.

Survivors include: son, Stephen Clark of San Diego, CA; daughters, Brenda Becker (Dwight) of McPherson, KS and Peggy Porter (Randel) of Quinter, KS; half-brother, Leroy “Rusty” Clark, Jr. of Chandler, AZ; 11 grandchildren, Tobias Becker (Stephanie) of Olathe, KS, Jodi Sullivan (Will) of San Diego, CA, Andrew Becker (Lori) of Hutchinson, KS, Thomas Becker (Valerie) of Manhattan, KS, Traci Parrish (Phil) of McPherson, KS, Matthew Porter (Christel) of Goshen, IN, Landon Porter (Rachel) of Kansas City, MO, Nathan Porter (Stacie) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Colleen Gustafson (Andrew) of McPherson, KS, Amy Porter of Wichita, KS, and Andrew Clark of San Diego, CA; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Jennifer Clark, infant son, Douglas Clark, and half-sister, Maridee Peterson.

The memorial service will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at McPherson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Chris Whitacre officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be in the McPherson Cemetery Mausoleum.
