Barbara Jean Jenkins, 87, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022, surrounded by family at her home in McPherson. She was a retired Registered Nurse, working at Northview Manor and The Cedars, both in McPherson, and Sandstone Heights in Little River.
Barbara was born on August 20, 1934, near Galva, KS, the daughter of Nathan Franklin and Matilda (Becker) Giesel. She graduated from Galva High School and Halstead Hospital School of Nursing. On June 26, 1955, Barbara was united in marriage to John Clayton Jenkins in Tacoma, WA. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2020.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Little River, KS and was a member of United Methodist Women.
Survivors include: three children, John Clayton Jenkins, Jr. of Maize, KS, Marcé Lorenzen of Raleigh, NC; and Jeff Jenkins and wife, Darla, of Las Cruces, NM; a sister, Bernice Lorenzen of McPherson, KS; four grandchildren, Nathan Jenkins, Stephen Jenkins (Madison), Tim Jenkins, and Sarah Jenkins; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Chester Giesel.
