Avis Wann

Avis V. Wann, 89, died April 22, 2004, at Shiloh Manor Nursing Home, Canton, Kansas.

She was born May 28, 1914, at Falun, Kansas, the daughter of James A. and Winifred Irene (Moore) Kimble. She had lived in Canton since December of 2002, formerly of McPherson (1957 to 2002) and Marquette. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson Women's Bowling Association Hall of fame, McPherson Kitchenettes, and was a volunteer for Trash to Treasures.

On December 8, 1934, she married Amos V. Wann at Salina, KS. He died April 20, 1995.

Survivors include: two sons, Harold Wann and James Wann, both of McPherson; two daughters, Jean Chestnut of McPherson and Vivian Jay of Holdenville, OK; a brother Chet Kimble of Ellinwood, KS; two sisters, Neva Zimmerman of Marquette, KS and Ardith Koelling of Abilene, KS; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen Wann; a brother, Ivan Kimble; two grandchildren, Chris Wann and Christine New; and a great-grandson, Austin Wann.

Funeral will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, with Rev. Michael Fibranz officiating. Burial will be in the Marquette Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
